Medication guardrails is a safety software for IV smart pumps that supports customizable care profiles to increase patient safety when administering IV medications. In 2019, Baptist Health System set a goal of 96% guardrail use compliance for safe medication administration. Baptist Health Richmond was not able to meet the goal of 96% guardrail use, therefore their quality department began a performance improvement project with direct care nursing that met and sustained 96% compliance goal.
